Wandiligong Nut Festival

Wandiligong Nut Festival

The Wandiligong Nut Festival is more than about nuts with a full weekend of live music and activities for the whole family.

About

The Wandiligong Nut Festival is held at the historic Alpine Park, nestled among heritage trees and gums near Morses Creek. The picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for celebrating the best the region has to offer.

The festival was established in 2001 by three visionary local women. Their goal was to unite the small, isolated rural community around themes of fun, laughter, and celebration.

Over the years, the festival has grown into a beloved tradition, celebrating the autumn harvest time in the Alpine region.

It’s an opportunity for locals, tourists, growers, and makers to come together and revel in the bounty of chestnuts, walnuts, and hazelnuts unique to the area. The festival also serves as a platform for local fundraising efforts.

Activities

The festival buzzes with nut-related activities which are popular with children and adults alike including:

  • Learn about these locally grown nuts and their unique flavors including chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts.
  • Nut-cracking tables give you a chance to crack open fresh nuts and savour their goodness.
  • The popular chestnut roasting area fills the air with the aroma of roasted chestnuts.
  • Watch nut-based cooking demonstrations and discover creative ways to incorporate nuts into your meals.
  • Wander through vibrant market stalls adorned with local art and craft. Explore local products, food, and drink offerings and find fresh, seasonal produce from the area.
  • Listen to live music throughout the day. A variety of acts from across Victoria will be playing on the main stage.
